craving cookies
Sunday night I had a serious craving for cookies. It was quite a week and what can I say? Some cravings just won’t be denied.

I may have thrown pretty much everything I could think of into the mixing bowl. I’m not going to lie, I contemplated adding both cereal and marshmallows. It wasn’t exactly my finest hour.
That being said, I’m happy to report that these cookies are pretty dang delicious. We still have a handful left and it’s all I can do not to grab one every time I walk through the kitchen.

Look familiar? Yes, the bare bones of this recipe are that of these fabulous cookies. I chose this as a prototype in my stupor because I know it well and because it isn’t too sweet. The add-ins fix that nicely.
Just About Everything Cookies
Makes 3 dozen cookies
2/3 cup margarine, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup coarsely chopped dark chocolate
1/4 cup white chocolate chips
1/4 cup raisins
1/4 cup chopped dates
Heat oven to 375°F. Mix margarine, sugars, egg, and vanilla thoroughly. Blend dry ingredients and stir in. Stir in chocolates, raisins, and dates.
Drop by (scant) teaspoonfuls two inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until just golden.
High-Altitude Notes: Reduce baking soda to about 1/4 teaspoon and bake at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes.

you are a mind reader. I have been craving cookies for all of this very long week.
