just because
I’m writing this post because in the past two days, I’ve bathed my formerly well-behaved dog twice after her white fur turned brown. I’m writing this post because only after I did three loads of laundry today, my other dog threw up in the car.

Because there’s something wrong with the vacuum and it’s spitting out everything it inhales. Because I’m not eating meat any more and my favorite take-out place made me a beef burrito instead of a bean one (so okay, I ate meat tonight). Because it’s been a busy week at work and all I really want to do is sleep in my sweats for three days.

Because I painted my nails one of those trendy grey-beige (“greige,” apparently) colors and I really don’t think I can pull it off. Because it’s been ninety degrees outside all week long and tomorrow’s the first of October. And because I’m about to go to sleep with my mascara on, I’ll share my new favorite recipe. Which is also my new favorite food.

Oreo Cheesecake Pretzel Sandwiches
Picky Palate
Makes 12 pretzel bites
Ryan and I now call these crack sandwiches. Try them and I guarantee, you’ll understand.
7 Oreo cookies
1 ounce cream cheese (I used reduced-fat)
24 small square pretzels
1 cup melted chocolate chips
White sprinkles or shredded coconut for garnish (optional)
Place Oreos into a food processor and process until finely ground. Mix Oreo crumbs and cream cheese until dough forms. Pinch about a tablespoon of dough and form into a little square. Place onto pretzel then gently press top pretzel to close. Top with melted chocolate and white sprinkles or coconut, if desired. Chill until chocolate has hardened and serve. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator or freezer.
Oh, be still my heart! I can’t wait to try these little bites of heaven. Nicely done!
Genius. Absolutely genius. Thank you so much for this idea; I can’t wait to try it out!
These look so glamorous but clearly are so easy to make. Awesome.
My goodness those sound decadent! And bite size too, which means they are healthy right???
I love the salty sweet combo with the pretzels, delicious!
Now these are clever!!! YUM
Um, these look so evil (and I mean that in a good way.) Totally putting this in my “to make” recipe “box”.
This sounds perfect. Something that can be done on lunch break. I’ve never seen square pretzels. Any ideas where to purchase them?
The only problem I see with is recipe is the part about storing leftovers. I don’t have any.
Must have leftovers to store in refrigerator or freezer.
Must double, maybe triple recipe. I’ll let you know if this works.
Man! Dogs just love getting dirty! And I thought I’d let you know that I too tried out the gray nail polish and it looked awful on me and I think I looked like I had dead hands… and last night I went to bed with mascara on too. Ugh!
But these sure do look amazing and like just the thing to take all those little things and make you feel good about life for time-span of a bite. I’m bookmarking this recipe, for sure.
oh megan i feel better already.
cathy – i usually buy mine at smith’s or walmart. hopefully your grocery store will have some!
Made over 150 of these for my daughter’s high school football/cheerleading pasta party.A little time consuming due to the volume but boy were they a big hit! The kids were crazy for them and they are now on the “please make those again” list. I omitted the coconut and topped with shredded white chocolate.
