Hi! My name is Laura and I like to bake, a lot. I also like to to run, write, play with my dogs and husband, watch tv, and take pictures of my food.
Rather Be Baking is about sugar. It’s about seasonal fruits, weird flours, occasional vegan experiments, and ungodly amounts of chocolate and caffeine.
I believe that baking should be fun and a source of joy, above all else. It is for me and I hope that it can be for you, and that I can lend a hand along the way!
What’s this business about altitude? We recently relocated to Portland, Oregon from Salt Lake City, Utah, where we lived at an altitude of 5-6,000 feet. All recipes are written/posted for sea level (unless otherwise specified), but many recipes have High-Altitude Notes following as applicable. I don’t have notes for every recipe, as I baked quite a few while living elsewhere, but I’m working on it! Good high-altitude baking resources are hard to come by, and I hope to lend a little insight if you’re somewhere in the sky!
